FAQs

General

How can I create a macro?
1) Open the remote you want to create the macro for and tap on „Edit“ at the top-right corner.

2) Then tap on „Edit Remote“. At the top-left corner you’ll find the „+“ button, which leads to the menu for adding buttons. In this menu you will find a button to create a macro at the top of the screen which is called „Create a OneTouch (macro)“.

3) After pushing this button you can just select the command chain you wish to record.

When pressing the buttons please make sure that the commands associated with these buttons are being sent (your devices react to these buttons), so you know how your devices will react to your macro.

If you want to add commands from other remotes, you can use the remote's flip to switch between all the remotes in your room. After adding the last command to your OneTouch, just press the „Record“ button on the top-left hand corner. The macro will be created as a new button on your remote.

What is a OneView?
A OneView lets you gather all the major functions of your consumer electronic devices in one remote, so that you could turn up the volume on your stereo or pause your DVD player from within one single remote for example.

Is there a difference between the OneViews?
The major difference is the remote control layout of each OneView, which is optimized individually. The OneView “Watch TV” e.g. puts the channel and volume control on the first page of your remote, as these are the buttons you’ll need most when watching TV. The OneView “Watch Recorded Content” puts the navigation buttons and your volume control on the first page as you would need them the most to navigate in the menu of your digital media player.

Why does my iPhone / iPad / iPod Touch have to be in flight mode when updating the VooMote Zapper firmware?
Putting your iPhone or iPod Touch in flight mode is just a measure of precaution. It prevents your iPhone from receiving an incoming phone call while updating. This would interrupt the update process and could damage your VooMote product. After finishing the firmware update you can use your iPhone or iPod as you are used to without flight mode active.

My device was not found during the scan and I do not have the original remote control to teach the commands. What can I do?
Our database consist of a wide range of IR codes for most of the consumer electronic devices on the market. If you couldn’t find your device during the scan, you could try searching for your device with a different brand (e.g. you can find your DirecTV HNS HTL-HD satellite box manufactured by Hughes listed under DirecTV and under Hughes). Sometimes you will be able to find your device in another category (e.g. your Dish satellite STB with recording function is listed as Dish in the categories “Satellite” and “PVR”).

If none of these measures work, please send an email to support(at)zero1.tv containing make and model of your device you wish to add, and we will do our best to integrate the missing codes in our next update.

VooMote One

The Teach-In worked, but the buttons are not working when pressed. Why?
The Teach-In of the first generation VooMote One is limited due to hardware restricitions. These restrictions lead to codes, that are shown as successfully taught, actually were not recorded correctly. These codes cannot be taught even though the Teach-In process is displayed as successful. The second generation product, the VooMote Zapper, does not have these hardware limitations.

Where can I find the gestures function?
You can use gestures in your remote to control your device with the VooMote Zapper without looking at your remote. To use gestures open the remote of the device you wish to control within the Zapper App and swipe to the utter left page.

You can exit the gesture mode by tapping on the button at the top-right corner.

Why are some gestures not working?
The gestures are connected to the most common functions of the category (TV, DVD player etc.) the selected remote belongs to by default, e.g the gesture double tapping within the category "TV", mutes your television.

If double tapping does not mute your TV, it could be because the associated command for mute is not working in this remote (you can check by pressing the button for mute on the original remote) or there is no command assigned to this function.

How can I edit the gestures?
Gestures are not editable in version 1.1 of the Zapper App. Our team will add the opportunity to set individual commands for each gesture in later versions of the app.

Why do I have to press a button twice when teaching a command?
Our Teach-In function needs to receive an IR code two times to guarantee that the IR code is captured the correctly. Some remotes even toggle between two different signals every time they are pressed.

Why can’t I setup my Dish Network STB?
You can setup your dish network stb as a PVR or Satellite Box. Please choose “Dish” instead of “Dish Network” as a brand. This problem is caused by an inconsistency in naming brands in our database. It will be fixed with our next app update.

Why are some brands in the database listed twice?
Some brands can appear twice in our database (e.g. DirecTV and DirecTv) due to different spelling. We are constantly striving to keep our database up to date and clutter free. We’ll fix these redundancies with our next update and apologize for any inconvenience caused.

Why can I sometimes choose a model and sometimes I can’t?
We are currently linking models to our remotes in our database. Every model we could successfully validate will be added to our model database. Choosing a model makes it much easier to set up your device in our app. If you don’t know your model, you can still perform the scan to setup your device. This way, even if your model is already listed, you’ll get the best remote for your device.
