We are very happy and proud to announce the release of our first product. We think it is a great product and a real innovation within the various remote control apps that are currently in the App Store. VooMote gives you “Eyeless Control” for your media. Control your Mac without the need to look at your iPhone to hit the right buttons. VooMote is different, as it is using gesture-control, not using virtual buttons that are displayed on the iPhone screen. Elgato and VooMote partnered up to create the best possible user experience controlling Elgatos EyeTV software using VooMote for iPhone. With a couple of simple easy-to-learn gestures you control EyeTV and a lot of other media applications, like Hulu, Boxee, DVD Player and Front Row with a swipe of your finger.

You might have realized that between our last post and this one here is quite a gap. We are really sorry that you had to wait so long for news from VooMote and we would like to apologize. Thanks to all the people who gave us great feedback throughout the last months. We have been really busy in the last months, as we are currently moving our company from Hamburg to Berlin, and did some successful fundraising.

But it is not all about fundraising and organizational stuff. We also did a lot of development in the meantime. I am happy and very excited that we are already planning our next release. VooMote goes Windows: We are currently testing the VooMote receiver software for Windows-operated PC internally. As soon as we are happy with it, it will be released as a public beta, and can be downloaded directly from our website. Best of all, the VooMote receiver for Windows is free. You just need do buy VooMote for iPhone once from the App Store and you can use it to control your Mac and your Windows-PC.

It is a really fascinating thing to create a product simply out of an idea. I am lucky that this time, I may be part of this. The idea gets developed into a concept, the concept into a specification and then finally after a lot of hard work into a product.

So, our idea is, to reinvent the remote control. Well, reinventing is quite a big word, you might think. How are we going to do that?

In simple words: we replace buttons with gestures. Remote Controls always have been about buttons. Arrow buttons, number buttons, playback control buttons, OK buttons, special buttons. Every functionality has a button, and more functionalities need more buttons. So remote controls became pretty big and unusable.

Our idea is to use touch-gestures to control your media. You can browse every menu by using swipe gestures. Swipe left, swipe right, up and down. It couldn’t be simpler. Our easy-to-learn Smart-Gestures give you direct access to all the functionalities you need.
